| "First Fire!" at Strobel Quarzsand

Strobel Quarzsand GmbH celebrated the initial start-up of its new KOHLBACH biomass boiler.

We are incredibly proud to announce a major milestone with Strobel Quarzsand GmbH: the successful first firing of their new KOHLBACH biomass heating system! The new plant will now provide CO2-neutral hot air and heat for drying their high-quality quartz sand, a process that requires a massive amount of energy. By replacing natural gas with regional biomass waste, Strobel Quarzsand is making a powerful statement for a sustainable future. A huge thank you to our expert partners, Schmidmeier Naturenergie GmbH, for their great collaboration on this project. A heartfelt thank you also to our "fire starters" at the photo who perfectly positioned the split logs: Leonard Gresser and Thomas Kaiser (both from Strobel Quarzsand GmbH)! Thanks also to all our colleagues on the Team OneKohlbach. From planning to production and commissioning: you've done excellent work—completely in line with our motto, "Good People Good Energy." We’re proud to contribute to Strobel Quarzsand's ongoing sustainability journey!

It was a successful week.

What a week full of GOOD ENERGY we had at Ligna 2025!

The interest was simply overwhelming – every day was packed with exciting conversations.

We saw a fantastic mix of new faces and cherished acquaintances at our booth.

  • Particularly gratifying were the visits from our long-standing customers, with whom we not only deepened our business relationships but also nurtured friendships and planned future projects.

  • And the discussions with new faces, their innovative ideas, and potential future projects ignited a fire within us, even before it blazes in future Kohlbach plants!

| We are Export Champion 2025

At the Export Gala 2025, we received the Export Award for medium-sized enterprises in Carinthia.

In May, KOHLBACH Energieanlagen GmbH was honored with the “Export Award 2025” 🏆 in the category “Medium-Sized Enterprises Carinthia” – a moment that fills us with pride. ☺️

We would like to express our heartfelt thanks for this recognition. This prestigious award, presented by the Carinthian Chamber of Commerce and Raiffeisen Landesbank Carinthia, means more to us than just a trophy – it’s a powerful confirmation of our commitment and achievements.
A big thank you to every single member of our #OneKohlbach team. Each of you is a vital piece of our shared success. 🫶

A few thoughts from us on why exports are the key driver of success for Kohlbach Energieanlagen GmbH:

Without exports, Kohlbach would not be where we are today. Jakob and Josefine Kohlbach recognized early on: those who manufacture specialized products must think globally. As early as 1970, our export rate exceeded 50% – a clear sign of our early international focus. The Kohlbach brand became synonymous worldwide with efficient, reliable, and sustainable energy solutions based on biomass residues. Today, the family business is led by Mag. Walter Kohlbach in its second generation. In the 2023/2024 fiscal year, Kohlbach Energieanlagen GmbH achieved an export rate of 80%. Despite our global orientation, our production and engineering remain firmly rooted in Carinthia. We intentionally leave room for local sourcing and for the contributions of our international partners to ensure resilient service to our markets and global customers. Kohlbach stands for quality over quantity: with two locations in Carinthia, subsidiaries in Germany, France, Croatia, and Switzerland, and a global partner network, we ensure close proximity to our clients. Direct export remains our preferred route into international markets. With more than 15 languages spoken in our engineering office alone, we are both culturally and linguistically well-equipped. At the same time, we maintain a strong local partner network in numerous countries – from Japan to Mexico.

For us, one thing is clear: export is not a side business – it is our foundation.
